Ultra Aluminum posts and gates: pick the right post, order the right gate, once.
Panels get the attention, but jobs go sideways at posts and gates — wrong wall thickness under a swinging leaf, a 13-foot double gate ordered without the required U-frame, hardware forgotten because it’s sold separately. This guide lays out Ultra’s post matrix, gate options, and D&D hardware with the book prices attached, so the take-off is right the first time.
Post selection: size and wall by duty
Ultra posts are square aluminum, sold as line, end, corner, or blank, with caps included. The rule of thumb: the line run takes the light wall, and anything that takes load — gates, ends, corners, wind fences — steps up in wall or in size.

Options worth knowing: double-punched (heavy-rack) posts add $4.75 each; custom routing runs $9.25 per hole; ball caps, flange covers, and welded base flanges are in the accessories book. Ultra welds base flanges to 2″ and 2-1/2″ posts with a minimum .080 wall — and on any core-drilled or plate-mounted post in freezing climates, drill the weep hole the book warns about, or the post warranty is on you.

Every Ultra gate is essentially made to order, matched to any panel style in single/walk and double/drive configurations. Book surcharges, identical across residential, commercial, and industrial except where noted:

Maximum double-gate widths: 12′ residential, 16′ commercial, 28′ industrial. Beyond a swing gate’s practical limits, the Ultrack cantilever slide-gate line runs 6′–30′ widths — ask us to price it. Hardware: sold separately, never optional
Ultra gates ship without hinges and latches — they’re line items. Book pricing:

Ordering checklist
- Count posts by function — line, end, corner, gate (blank) — not just by footage.
- Step the wall up at every gate; 4″ posts if the Adjustable Ultra Hinge is specified; steel by quote for the biggest swings.
- Check the 6′/12′ U-frame thresholds before pricing wide gates.
- Add hinges, latch, and drop rod to the order — they will not come with the gate.
- Oversize freight applies to long posts and gates (over 8′–10′ $250, over 10′–14′ $400 book).
